OYSTER PLANTING #1
9:00 am - 11:00 am
Saturday May 28
St. Mary's College of Maryland Waterfront
  • Volunteers are encouraged to come help us plant MGO (Marylanders Grow Oysters) cage-grown oysters directly into the St. Mary's River! Parking is restricted on most of the campus so seek parking in the Historic St. Mary's City parking lot off State House Road or in the athletic field at the north end of the college campus. We provide life jackets and gloves. You will need to bring sun protection, drinking water/food, and be prepared to get wet and muddy. Appropriate for ages nine up and those fifteen or under should be accompanied by an adult.

OYSTER PLANTING #2
9:00 am - 2:30 pm
Thursday, June 2
St. Mary's College of Maryland Waterfront
  • Come cheer on the James Forest Tech Center class from Mr. Spinicchia's Natural Resources Management class as they plant 250,000 oysters into the St. Mary's River. After lunch the class will prepare shell fo the oyster nursery and build reef balls.

  • Come watch and enjoy the Chesapeake Bay's largest yacht race. Celebration of race winners will be accompanied by live music, exhibits, and drinks! We will be there, so be sure to stop by.
